Gold prospecting is underway at 61 sites in South Cyprus.


Search work continues in South Cyprus to discover gold deposits, which, according to Politis newspaper, cover an area of about 142 square kilometers.
According to data obtained from the mining services, 61 gold prospecting licenses are now active and 15 applications are being processed.
According to official figures, 189 kilograms of gold were discovered in South Cyprus between 2017 and 2020, which was taken abroad for further processing in special plants. The newspaper noted that the value of this gold on the market reaches 11 million euros.
The newspaper also reported that there are five companies in South Cyprus that have permission to discover gold deposits.
