"MIT TRSK announced that foreigners are under observation due to their real estate business; a ban on construction and sales is being introduced for foreigners."

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan commented on the statement that thousands of hectares of land are being purchased by intermediaries connected to Israel in northern Cyprus. Fidan stated that they are also investigating these allegations, as it was a topic they had been studying since their previous position. He also provided detailed information on the sale of real estate to foreigners in the TRNC. According to the newspaper Hürriyet, in the last23 years, around200 Israeli citizens have applied to purchase real estate, and Fidan noted that in the last five years,15,000 applications have been made to buy property in the TRNC, with the majority not coming from Israel, but from other countries. He also pointed out that the UK has been in the lead since2000, with Iran taking the top spot in the last five years.
Fidan's statement became the main topic at the KKT's meeting in Parliament. Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz stated that they have developed two draft laws regarding the sale of real estate and the operation of real estate agencies in response to questions from opposition parties. He also mentioned that certain restrictions will be imposed on the purchase of real estate by foreigners and that they will prohibit the creation of companies for foreign participation in construction under the "buy-sell" system. Oğuz also noted that they are aware of significant real estate sales being conducted under illegal contracts that have not been presented to the Council of Ministers, and he pointed out that there are vulnerabilities in the contracts regarding security, and they plan to make changes to the legislation on this issue.
