New York Bus Sales plans to build a large bus mill in Batavia, NY. The company has filed an application to build a facility of more than 20,000 square feet.

In a presentation, company executives said Batavia is an optimal location for the facility because the town is located between two major urban areas.

Key goals and plans:

• Maintenance and repair of buses owned by other companies serving schools in Western New York.
• Replacement of the leased New York Bass Sales branch in Rochester, providing more space for development.

Planned characteristics of the mill:

• 18 parking spaces for electric buses.
• Plenty of space for regular buses and minibuses.

The company has 8 locations throughout the state, including Chittenango, Ravena, Middletown and currently in Rochester. The company also provides service to school districts in Greene, Whitney Point, Morris and Malone.
