A virtual cave house blends with the organic landscape of Milo in Greece.
The Cave House on the island of Milos is a digital sanctuary merging with the organic beauty of the Greek landscape. In the pristine landscape of Milos, this house looks like a natural extension of the island's unique topography. The project is a virtual collaboration between visual artist George Kroustallis of Minorstep and 3D designer Alvaro Polo, who draw inspiration from the Greek heritage and geology of the island.
Idea
The idea comes from a deep respect for the island's natural rock formations and a desire to explore architecture as an organic extension of the landscape. The proposal seeks to challenge traditional architectural norms, integrating the built environment seamlessly with nature and offering a new perspective on spatial design.
Cave house
The cave house is created digitally using state-of-the-art 3D modeling, incorporating real geological data from the island of Milos to ensure an authentic connection to the landscape. The design process includes iterative simulations to test the structural strength and aesthetic consistency of the concept. Special emphasis is placed on "molding" the rock, virtually penetrating it to create architectural forms.
Materials
Natural rock forms are mixed with concrete and marble.
Architectural features
One of the outstanding features of the Cave House is its fluid architecture, where spaces flow seamlessly from inside to outside, challenging traditional boundaries and offering a transformative spatial experience. The Milos Cave House demonstrates what is possible in the realm of digital architecture. The design team seeks to redefine space by boldly stretching aesthetic boundaries.
