Warner Music will recreate Edith Piaf's voice and image using artificial intelligence for an official animated biography.
The development of artificial intelligence continues to gain momentum, and Tuesday was no exception. News broke of a biographical movie about Edith Piaf that will be the first to be produced entirely using artificial intelligence technology. The project is being led by Warner Music Entertainment and production company Seriously Happy, with support from the Editha Piaf Foundation.
The fully artificial creation of the movie has already been demonstrated as a concept, though Warner Music Entertainment is looking for a studio partner to further work on the film.
The film will present viewers with the story of Edith Piaf's rise to status as a symbol of female power and one of France's most beloved performers of all time. The making of the movie was made possible by''incredible performances. Recordings of her original songs such as 'La Vie en rose' and 'Non, je ne regrette rien' will be used to create an authentic visual story, as well as archival footage of Edith Piaf's performances and interviews, television shows and her personal library.
The CEO of Warner Music France, Alain Veil, said in an accompanying statement that "Edith is one of France's greatest artists and she is still a source of great pride for the French people. Combining new technology with the legacy of such artists is a very complex process and it was important for us to work closely with Edith's legacy and treat the project with the highest respect. Her story needs to be told and through this movie we will be able to connect with new audiences and''to inspire a new generation of fans'.
Julie Veil said it was the greatest privilege to work with Edith's legacy to bring her story into the 21st century.
The executors of Edith Piaf's will, Catherine Glavas and Christie Lomme, added that 'it was a special and moving experience to hear Edith's voice again -''The technology made it feel like we were back in the room with her. The animation is beautiful, and through this film we will be able to show the real Edith - her joyful personality, humor and undaunted spirit. "
Edith Piaf, Marion Cotillard famously won her first Oscar for her performance as the singer in the 2007 movie "La Vie en Rose." Her song of the same title is considered one of the greatest love songs of all time. She is also known for her works such as "Hymne à l'\''amour", "Milord", "La Foule", "L'\''Accordéoniste" and "Padam, padam...". In addition to her difficult childhood in poverty, she became an international star and continued to serve as a cultural icon even after her death in 1963 at the age of 47.
