A country estate on Italy's Emaldo Coast prides itself on its architectural pedigree.

The villa, designed in the 1970s by architect Luigi Vietti, is for sale in Porto Cervo, a resort town on the Costa Smeralda on the island of Sardinia.

Rarex Porto Cervo- is what was originally envisioned. Central City and the adjacent stretch of the Emerald Coast were founded by Prince Karim Aga Khan and investors in the 1960s as a luxury tourist destination. The development has become a favorite vacation spot for the international jet set. Costa Smeralda is popular with secondary home buyers.

"The Costa Smeralda is one of the most sought-after destinations in the world for buyers who are looking for a second home to use not only for summer vacations, but increasingly also for extended periods when they can work remotely or spend retirement," says Fernando Velez, founder of Rarex, who specializes in real estate sales in the region. "The area is proving to be very attractive not only to local buyers but also to international investors, especially from Northern Europe and North America."

The area is attracting interest from national buyers and international investors from Northern Europe and North America. Among the various architects and landscape designers engaged to realize the layout of the public was the renowned architect Luigi Vietti. He is also credited with the design of the village center, the Cervo and Pitritza hotels, the Dolce Sposa residential complex and private villas including Cherbiatte, the residence of the Prince. Architectural guidelines called for rustic Mediterranean designs using irregular shapes, decorative arches, pastel exteriors and natural untreated wood.

The Vietti estate offers views of the coast, the iconic Stella Maris Church and the yacht club. Velez currently has an offer to sell the house, designed by Vietti in the 1970s.

As for the location? The marina is a five-minute walk away, and downtown is about 20 minutes away on foot or a few minutes by taxi-boat, according to Velez. He notes: "Accessible by just a few hours flight from major European capitals, the Costa Smeralda is a favorite destination for high-net-worth individuals from German-speaking countries, Eastern Europe, the UK and the US who are looking for their own private oasis of peace with a mild year-round climate and unspoiled coastline."
