Capturing the chaotic style of the coolest guys in Tbilisi.
In the pulsating soul of the Georgian capital, the street style is somewhat chaotic, overly diverse, wildly creative, and fresh - just like the city itself.
After four years of absence due to the pandemic, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi returned last week, holding its first event since November 2019. The organizers of the fashion show, who have experienced several relocations from the old circus to various museums and galleries, have settled into a new permanent home - the old Coca-Cola factory located in the heart of the city's industrial zone.
Although the schedule of shows was more condensed than in previous seasons, there was still plenty of interesting things on the runway: from God Era t-shirts inspired by Dazed magazine to elegant couture by Aka Prodiashvili, clubwear by Berhasm suitable for Berghain, and sensual menswear by Irakli Rusadze from the brand Situationist.
On the streets of Tbilisi, these brands blend with the clothing of local designers, who represent the emerging Georgian labels, as well as with fashionable finds from vintage and boutique shops, such as the flea market at Dry Bridge and well-known brands.
Everywhere you could see spacious suits with wide XXL pants and tablecloth skirts - flirty and fiery, but worn with white knee-high stockings on one end of the spectrum and layered over jeans and paired with a torn music t-shirt on the other.
The fashion week in Tbilisi is charmingly chaotic, with a true "do it yourself" spirit and a sense of community that sets it apart from others around the world - you'll see a model on the runway one second, and the next she’ll be running to showcase her own collection. The same can be said for the street style.
