A residential complex in Indonesia has been copied from a Singaporean one, complete with its own Merlion and ERP gate.

In a residential complex in Medan, Indonesia, a concept inspired by Singapore has been realized, featuring well-known elements such as the Merlion and ERP gantries. The saying that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" seems particularly relevant to this residential project, dubbed "Singapore of Medan." CitraLand Gama City (CLGC) is a gated community rich in features reminiscent of Singaporean attractions.

Although the construction of the complex is not yet complete, the developers have already managed to build several iconic symbols of Singapore. The first thing to appear on the site was an ERP gantry, but instead of the usual letters, it features an abbreviation for the project name — CLGC. The project will cover an area of 211.57 hectares, which will include a vibrant shopping zone. Borrowing the name of the famous shopping street in Singapore, there will also be its own version of Orchard Road with a replica of the road sign.

The developers paid maximum attention to detail, even copying the benches along Orchard Road to make them look as close to the original as possible. All that's missing are the shopping malls, bustling crowds, and an ice cream vendor, so that even locals might wonder if they've ended up in Singapore.

Another attraction borrowed for CLGC is the Fountain of Wealth, which actually seems like a smaller version of its Singaporean counterpart. The Merlion, although smaller in size, proudly stands at the entrance to one of the residential clusters that the developers have named "Fullerton." Apparently, the complex will consist of six clusters, four of which are named after famous Singaporean places:Fullerton,Clark Quay,Dempsey HillandRaffles Place.

In addition to the architectural features, a walk through this residential complex will lead you to metal statues in various poses that may seem familiar.

Although their images are not exact replicas of what can be seen along the Singapore River, they are quite similar. For example, one of the statues depicts a person watching a metal pigeon — this creates an atmosphere of tranquility.

Unlike our famous sculpture of five boys jumping into the river, here you can see two boys playing on land. Since the complex is still under construction, it is unclear what other replicas of attractions will be added in the future.

Although such imitation may evoke admiration, there is hope that the developers will not encounter legal issues due to their exact replica of Singaporean attributes. It would be unfortunate if the construction work were to stop. However, if everything goes smoothly, we can be sure that CLGC will become a popular photo spot for those who cannot afford a trip to our "Little Red Dot."
