Edith Piaf's life inspires AI movie with the blessing of her heirs.
Piaf, as well as "archival video from Piaf's TV and interview appearances, stage performances and her personal library, which will help lend authenticity to the visual story." Variety reports that "Warner Music trained artificial intelligence on hundreds of Piaf's audio and stills, some of which are more than 80 years old. "
"Edith is one of France's greatest artists, and she is still a source of particular pride for the French people. Combining new technology and the creativity of a legacy artist is a very special balancing act and it was important for us to work closely with Edith's heirs and treat this project with the utmost respect," said Warner Music France head Alain Veil. "Her story deserves to be told, and through this movie we will be able to''to connect with new audiences and inspire a new generation of fans'.
Director Julie Vey, who spearheaded the project, adds:
"It was an honor to work alongside Edith's heirs to help bring her story into the 21st century. In making the movie, we asked ourselves the questions: "\''If Edith were with us, what messages would she want to pass on to younger generations?'\''Her story is one of incredible resilience, of overcoming adversity and rejecting social norms to achieve greatness - and it is as relevant today as it was then. Our goal is to use the latest advances in animation and technology to tell this timeless story to audiences of all ages. "
Kathryn Glavas and Kristi Lajum, managing''Piaf's legacy has indeed given its blessing to the project.

A movie created using artificial intelligence is bound to generate discussion, especially one that''which uses technology to revive (by whatever means) a deceased performer. In this case, the filmmakers have every right to use technology for this purpose, even if we obviously cannot know what Piaf herself would have wanted. It is now up to the audience to decide whether they want to consume such content.
