The main specificity of the weather in Bodrum is the absolute absence of storms, from which the town is protected by the shores of the bays.
History of Bodrum.
The territory of present-day Bodrum was colonized by people in ancient times. It was the site of the famous Halicarnassus, the second metropolis of the ancient Greek state of Caria. The stage of prosperity of the settlement falls on the IV century BC. - during the reign of Mavsolos, the viceroy of the Persian king. After his death, the metropolis fell into the hands of invaders and fell into decay. In the Middle Ages, the town is rebuilt by Maltese paladins of the Order of St. John. Later, with the arrival of the Ottomans, its new ruler is Sultan Suleiman. Bodrum gained independence only in the middle of XX century. And after the international airport was opened here in 1997, the region begins to intensively improve resort business.

The main curiosity and distinctive sign of Bodrum are the ruins of the famous Mausoleum, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Also vacationers are often recommended trips to nearby islands, the most fashionable of them - on the island of Rhodes. However, in order to visit it, it is necessary to obtain an open Schengen visa.
In the vicinity of Bodrum there is an abundance of small fishing villages, which can be of interest to tourists.
Beaches in Bodrum.
The beaches in Bodrum are located both within the suburbs and in the surrounding areas. There are rocky and sandy beaches in equal measure. All of them are well connected by road and can be reached by bus. One of the largest and most beautiful beaches is located in the town of Ortakent. Its territory is enveloped by orange trees, which descend to the water. It was awarded the “Blue Flag” for the extreme immaculateness of the coast.
In general, more than 40 beaches in Bodrum are labeled with a similar award. Ada Boazi beach is well known to tourists under the name “Aquarium”. There the water is incredibly clear, that the bottom is not bad to see even at a depth of 30 meters. In close proximity to Bodrum is located beach Bardakci, known for healing key springs. The distance to him counts only 500 meters. Entertainment Bodrum is considered a first-class place for youth vacation. There is one of the largest Eastern European discotheques “Halikarnass” (Halikarnas), whose hall can simultaneously accommodate up to 5 thousand people. Also for connoisseurs of dancing is constantly open club “Catamaran Club” (Catamaran Club). It is a cruiser, which, having picked up on board visitors, at night departs from the pier to return home only in the morning. An interesting feature of this ship is that its bottom is completely transparent. Live music lovers can visit the Kuba Bar, and yachting enthusiasts gather periodically at the Marina Yacht Club.
