Life in Italy: Unique Features
Italy is an amazing country, famous for its unique lifestyle and variety of real estate, providing comfortable conditions for families with children. Ksenia Koshkareva told us about the moment of life in this country and the nuances of searching for housing, sharing her life story. "We settled in a small but cozy town located on a mountain," she admitted.
Xenia and her husband, who is 45, are parents of a large family. In 2021, our family decided to move to Italy. Although we had prepared for this step in advance, the pandemic created additional difficulties.
The moving process
Preparing for the move took us almost a whole year. We bought an apartment in Italy, but shortly after that, the lockdown began. Six months later, we started the process of getting the paperwork ready for our final move and opened a branch of a Moscow real estateagency in Italy. Our new life in this country began more than two years ago.
We chose the central region of Lazio and settled in a small town of about 30,000 people about 70 kilometers fromRome. I fully believe that it is the perfect place to raise children and for people who work remotely.
Amenities and accessibility
Our community has everything you need, from schools and stores to water parks. In addition, the seaside can be reached in about an hour and the mountains in just half an hour.
Enrollment in schools and kindergartens
Enrolling children in schools and kindergartens was quite simple. In Italy, there is a law that guarantees the admission of children to educational institutions even in the absence of some necessary documents from the parents. I submitted an application for the admission of three children from Russia through the school website.
When we arrived in Italy, our older sons were offered an interview and the younger one, who was to go to first grade, was accepted immediately. The schools have assistants to help the children adapt to the new environment.
Education and adaptation
Our youngest daughter, who has been attending kindergarten for the second year now, is taking extra classes and currently speaks Italian better than anyone else in our family. "As for our everyday life, it has remained very similar to what it used to be," says Ksenia.
We are an active family, constantly on the move. This summer we traveled to the beautiful regions ofTuscany, Piedmont, Liguria and Abruzzo.
Maintaining a regular rhythm
Nevertheless, our usual rhythm of life has not changed:
- We are still taking our children to educational institutions,
- We take care of household chores and work.
But now we have new friends joining us, and our habits have been enriched by local traditions, such as aperitifs and coffee gatherings at the bar. Thanks to the convenient location of our home, we have significantly reduced travel time and no longer feel stressed by traffic jams.
The price of living
As for the standard of living, Italy is pleasantly surprising with affordable prices for many goods and services, including clothing, travel, and groceries. Many foodstuffs can be bought for as little as 1 euro, which makes the budget of our family of seven much easier.
Thus, life in Italy opens up new opportunities for us.and fills each day with numerous opportunities for happiness and comfort in our everyday existence.
The diversity of costs in our society
In our society, we can encounter a variety of expenses, among which utility payments hold a significant place. However, despite their considerable amount, they do not always reflect the actual situation.
Family benefits and work in real estate
We have five children in our family, which is why we actively utilize the federal benefits offered by the state. As for my professional activity, I continue to work in real estate. Perhaps not everyone knows that there are a lot of good deals in Italy, because apartments in need of renovation can sometimes be found for as little as 15,000 euros.
Customer support
My task is to assist Russian-speaking clients in finding affordable housing and the possibility of purchasing it remotely.
Specialization and experience
Previously, I worked in interior design and project management, which allows me to quickly assess various real estate properties and their potential.
Collaboration with professionals
We partner with trusted professionals including:
- lawyers
- accountants
- architects
- translators
- real estate agents
They work in different corners of Italy. In reality, you can purchase property worth up to25,000 eurosIt's interesting to note that in some cities there are offers even for1 euroI am ready to share my knowledge about the process of buying real estate in Italy, based on the experience of professionals.
A story about budget housing options
It's wonderful to realize that available housing options, like true treasures, are scattered throughout the country. Our story about getting approval for purchasing an apartment in Italy began aroundfour and a half years ago.
Memorable solution
During that time, I was on vacation in Turkey with my friends, and one of them shared her excitement about buying a property in Italy for a very small amount of money. I was absolutely thrilled by such an opportunity and decided that when I returned home, I would think about it constantly.
Rent and additional expenses
Our family spent several months every summer in Europe, renting apartments, which put a strain on the family budget. This realization led me to the thought that owning our own home would quickly pay off.
Analysis of the situation and selection of real estate
My husband and I started to study the situation carefully and think about what would be the best real estate option. We decided to look for a universal solution, not just a summer house by the sea, like in Skalea, for example.
Searching for a suitable option
Although this resort town is indeed attractive, the thought of living there permanently did not instill confidence in us — ideas about relocating began to emerge in our minds. We started looking for suitable options and discovered that the available houses are scattered all over Italy, like pearls in a Siberian lake.
Our real estate search
Having defined the geographical boundaries, we chose the range between the northern region andRome. Over the course of a week, we organized viewings of many apartments and ultimately settled on one of the last ones offered.
Choosing an apartment
At first, the apartment might have seemed like the smallest of all the ones we viewed, but for us, it was important not just to find a place to live, but also to consider the city and its surroundings. The climate here is much more comfortable than in the north of the country.
Why did we choose Sabia?
The wide beaches of Sabia, with sand resembling flour, make the place reminiscent of the Baltic resorts that we love so much. This decisive choice has opened a new chapter in our lives!
Conclusion
In conclusion of my narrative about living and real estate in Italy, I would like to share a few important conclusions. Moving to this wonderful country was a real adventure for our family, full of new discoveries and invaluable experience. Today Italy for us is not just a place on the map, but a full-fledged home, which gives us the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature and cultural heritage, as well as provides a comfortable and safe upbringing for our children.
During our time living in a small mountain town, we have realized that life here is truly convenient for a large family. Access to education, medical services, and entertainment creates an atmosphere where every family member can easily find their place. I am proud that my children study in Italian schools, where they are supported and helped to adapt to new conditions. The ease of admission to educational institutions and the opportunity to receive a quality education without unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles are things we highly value.
Experience of buying real estate
Our experience of buying real estate in Italy is also inspiring. I realized that it is always possible to find a good offer, even if you have a limited budget. Additional consultations with specialists and a clear understanding of our needs helped us not only to find an inexpensive apartment, but also to see its potential. This journey opened my eyes to the Italian real estate market and gave me the opportunity to create new business opportunities while helping others ignite dreams of owning their own homes.
General conclusions
Although life in Italy may seem challenging due to the language barrier and various cultural differences, one thing is clear: you can find support and understanding at every turn. Therefore, to anyone considering a move, I want to say:
- It's important to be open to new things.
- Get ready to level up your skills.
- Adapt to the new conditions.
Living in Italy is truly worth it! Every day I am more and more convinced of this, enjoying the Italian way of life, new friends and bright impressions that this country offers us at every step.
