Why should you consider buying real estate in Antalya?

- Why choose Antalya for life and vacation?
- How does life in Turkey differ from living in Russia?
- What is the attitude towards foreigners in Moscow and Turkey?
- Why should you consider buying real estate in Mersin, Turkey?
- How to choose the perfect apartment in Turkey for a comfortable life?
Getting to know Antalya
During my stay in Barcelona, I started researching the cost of housing properties. Apartments here can cost around €250,000. Interestingly, for that amount of money in Antalya, I could afford to buy a magnificent villa with a private pool.
After spending ten days in a hotel with my wife, we spent almost $5,000. If we already had our own apartment, these funds would be quite enough for a comfortable life in Turkey for six months. Many locals working in the hotel business have an excellent command of the basics of Russian, which also adds to the comfort.
Change in Turkey
I am quite well aware of current events in Turkey. In the last ten years that I have spent on this land, the country has undergone major changes. Previously, the neighborhoods and beaches looked rather neglected. But in recent years there have been positive changes:
- The streets are much cleaner now.
- Infrastructure is nicer to look at.
Turkey is gradually beginning to adopt some European standards, perhaps due to its desire to be part of the European Union. Walking around Antalya, you sometimes forget that you are in Turkey, it reminds you of Barcelona. It should be noted that in Europe you can find more architectural sights and historical monuments, but in Turkey there are significant improvements in the quality of service.
Country comparison
I have the opportunity to compare the two countries. I just recently returned from Barcelona, and I never encountered a janitor on the streets the whole time I was there. There was some real filth going on there! I can't understand what this has to do with, perhaps it is a consequence of some mass protests.
But in Antalya, cleanliness is found to a much higher level compared to Barcelona, and the cost of housing is also much lower. As already mentioned, apartments in Barcelona cost from €250,000. For the same money in Antalya you can buy a luxury villa with a swimming pool. This is one of my immediate goals.
Housing estates in Konyaalti
If we talk about residential complexes in Konyaalti area, our complex consists of two five-storey buildings with identical design. We have a common enclosed area with a swimming pool. There is a well-maintained path leading to the beach, which is only a kilometer away.
You can get to the city center in 10-15 minutes by cab or spending half an hour by bus. Konyaalti is considered one of the most attractive places on the coast of Antalya. Here you will find:
- Well-maintained beaches
- A lot of Europeans
- Housing prices are significantly lower than in Lara, for example
Lara and her features
Lara certainly looks picturesque - it's situated on a high cliff with stunning views. However, the descent to the sea from this location is quite difficult. As a result, Antalya and its surroundings offer an incredible amount of advantages to those who seek comfortable living by the sea and want to enjoy life in Turkey.
Future plans
I am already starting to plan my life here and am looking forward to seeing what changes this decision will bring. Living in Antalya promises to be not only comfortable, but also quite profitable from a financial point of view.
Earthquakes and their impact on real estate
In Turkey, earth tremors are sometimes felt, and I wonder how it will affect the buildings if there is an earthquake of 7 on the Richter scale. It should be emphasized that Russians, particularly residents of Perm, are actively buying apartments in Alanya in order to save money and enjoy a quality vacation.
Benefits of buying real estate abroad
In my opinion, buying real estate abroad, particularly in Antalya, can be more profitable than dacha farming in the Moscow suburbs. In the capital in order to go to the nature, it is necessary to overcome huge traffic jams, while in Turkey you can get to the same time as to the dacha, but with the help of air travel. Investments in real estate in Turkey look very promising: apartments often require minimal maintenance costs, while their value increases over time.
Housing maintenance expenses
At the moment I do not have clear information about the maintenance costs of my new home. I have just received the ownership documents and have not yet had time to live there. According to the locals, the utility bills are around 100 euros per month. We are going to visit our apartment in the New Year, and then we will find out what we will be billed for the downtime when the water and lights are cut off; I guess it could be around 20 euros, which is not much in general.
In our apartment complex, tenants collect 60 liras (that's about $33) each month to provide a salary for the person who keeps the grounds tidy and makes sure the pool is clean.
Living in Turkey vs. staying in hotels
As for living in Turkey, it is worth emphasizing that owning an apartment in this country is much more profitable than staying in hotels, which have recently become much more expensive. For example, during our stay in a small boutique hotel for ten days we spent close to 5000 dollars. These funds would have been enough for a six-month stay in Turkey.
If you need additional maintenance in your apartment such as cleaning, it won't be a problem as local services are reasonably priced.
Food prices and living expenses
Prices in cafes and restaurants in Antalya are in most cases quite democratic. At the same time, the dishes are prepared to a high standard and the portions are served quite large. The city also has fresh produce at local markets and various supermarkets. Everyone chooses according to their own taste, but I would guess that for monthly grocery expenses you would need about 300 dollars, which is a pretty reasonable amount.
For comparison, in Moscow our family spends about 30,000 roubles a month just on groceries and utilities. This does not even take into account expenses on clothing, leisure and entertainment, which ultimately leads to a total expenditure of about 100 thousand roubles. Thus, life in Moscow turns out to be considerably more costly than in Antalya.
Relationships with the locals
Relations with local residents are also pleasant: in our complex live representatives of different nationalities - Turks, Germans, Russians and Belarusians, a real international family. The neighboring houses are inhabited exclusively by locals.
Personally, I have not had a single instance of encountering ill-will or hostility from the locals. On the contrary, the atmosphere here is very friendly and truly welcoming.

Attitudes towards foreigners in Moscow and Turkey
In Moscow, newcomers are often treated with a certain caution. One can hear opinions such as: “here's another one, they've come and taken over our positions”. In Turkey, the situation is quite different - locals rarely think about their neighbors.
Language barrier and attempts at integration
The language barrier also made itself felt on more than one occasion. For example, the man in charge of cleanliness at our swimming pool does not speak English - he seems to be from a Kurdish region. So we had to ask our neighbors to help translate our requests and wishes. However, we are determined to learn Turkish and my wife has already signed up for lessons.
Knowledge of the Russian language in the service sector
It is worth noting that many service workers in Antalya know Russian. This is quite understandable, as a significant part of currency flows to Turkey comes from Russia and CIS countries.
Experience of buying real estate in Turkey
Now when it comes to buying real estate in Turkey, I see myself as more experienced in the process. Based on my experience, I would like to offer some useful advice to those looking for their first home on this side:
- Research the prices of various objects- analyze at least 10 different agencies.
- Be aware of the prices- In the real estate sector in Turkey you can find offers with very low prices, which may indicate that there are certain problems with the property.
- Compare information- If 8 out of 10 companies offer similar prices, it means that there is nothing wrong with the apartment and the reason is its attractive position on the market.
Legal support in transactions
When buying an apartment or villa in Turkey, you should proceed with caution and work only with a lawyer you trust completely. In general, the transaction process here is organized quite well and safe, but all documents should be checked on their merits. Fraud and deception are not uncommon, and caution is never a bad thing.
Bargaining with the seller and the reality of prices
As for negotiating with the seller, this is a common practice in this country. However, you shouldn't expect significant discounts, as the local real estate market is currently thriving. For example, I managed to lower the price by about $3,000.
The variety of real estate in Turkey
The variety of real estate offerings in Turkey is simply impressive. For instance, you can find an apartment in Alanya for 9,900 euros, with an area of 50 square meters, featuring one bedroom and a bathroom. This property is available for purchase with remote processing.

Interesting real estate properties
I would also like to mention an interesting property: a studio in Mersin for 14,400 euros, with an area of 42 square meters. An online viewing is also available for this option, and payment can be made in both rubles and cryptocurrency. This project is perfect for rental purposes: you can make an initial payment of just 14,400 euros, and pay the remaining amount in installments until the construction is completed. The complex offers all the necessary services:
- swimming pool
- water park
- cinema
- cafe
- beauty salon
- billiards
- barbecue area
Overall, the property fully meets modern requirements, including the use of gas heating and impact-resistant blocks. Additionally, there is an innovative elevator system, which significantly simplifies movement within the residential complex.

Conclusion
In conclusion, I can say that life in Antalya truly evokes positive emotions and new opportunities. Over the years of my interactions with this country, I have seen how it develops and transforms. What once seemed like a neglected place has now become comfortable and attractive for living. I cannot help but mention the significant changes in the architecture and infrastructure of the city, which are gradually bringing it closer to the standards of European resorts.
As the saying goes, there's no accounting for taste, and everyone chooses what resonates with them. For me, as someone caught between two cultures, life in Antalya offers numerous advantages. Answers to questions about real estate prices, living conditions, and relationships with locals help to outline the future of my family in more detail.
Advantages of living in Antalya
- Availability and low prices for real estate
- Improvement of the city's infrastructure and cleanliness
- Friendly locals and a multicultural environment
- The opportunity to enjoy the sea and sun all year round.
I believe that my experience of buying an apartment here will mark the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. We can enjoy the warm sea waves and sunny days, knowing that the property will only increase in value. Comparing Antalya to life in Moscow, I see more advantages, primarily inavailability and quality of life.
Communication with locals
Yes, it's possible that Europe has more architectural monuments and cultural attractions, but in Turkey, the number of people who speak Russian and treat visitors politely inspires confidence and builds bridges between cultures.
Now I am eagerly looking forward to celebrating the New Year in my new apartment, appreciating how wonderful it is to have my own little corner in such a beautiful country as Turkey. I hope my observations and conclusions will help others who are at a crossroads and considering buying property abroad. You should really think about how living abroad can not only be a profitable investment but also a step towards a new life filled with vibrant emotions and new horizons.
