As 2024 approaches, maybe it's time to set some desktop New Year's resolutions and try the same. Americans often look overseas to take advantage of the relatively strong dollar and cheaper housing compared to some parts of the US.
Business Insider compiled a list of 20 cities where people can live cheaply compared to major U.S. cities, using data from comparison website Numbeo, which provides user-based data on the cost of living in major cities around the world. All prices were quoted in US dollars, and city population information was obtained from Demographia data, except where otherwise noted.
Many of these places also score highly on quality of life parameters, but it is important to note that the low cost of living sometimes comes at the expense of other city characteristics such as safety, health, and pollution. We also didn't take into account logistics such as work visas. After all, it's possible to dream, isn't it.
