Antique Hollywood wedding at the royal estate in Athens

Антикварная голливудская свадьба в королевском поместье в Афинах

The planning was commissioned by Stefanotis wedding agency. Georgia and Alex first noticed each other in September 2017 when they were studying art history at the University of Florence. "For both of us, it was love at first sight," they say. Two years later, the couple traveled to the island of Corfu in Greece for a relaxing vacation and visited the Ancient Fortress of Corfu. When they were inside and enjoying the panoramic view of the Ionian Sea and the town of Corfu, Alex dropped to one knee. "From that moment on, we knew our fairy tale had begun," they recalled. Given their engagement in Greece and Alex's Greek heritage, the couple decided to get married in Athens. They were looking forward to their dream day, but a global pandemic delayed the process. "Planning a wedding during the pandemic was certainly a big emotional challenge," Georgia admits. Due to travel restrictions, the couple had to make all decisions overseas. Thankfully, thanks to the help of Marilisa Grammenou of Stefanotis Wedding Agency and their team of vendors, the planning stages were not only feasible, but enjoyable. "They made the realization of our wedding dream possible and the whole experience was so easy," they say.

After two years of planning, Georgia and Alex finally exchanged vows in front of 25 family and friends on June 12, 2021 at Queen's Tower Manor in Athens. "I wanted this to be the most beautiful day of my life, and thankfully, reality exceeded expectations," the bride exclaims. Keep reading to find out how their wedding fairy tale, planned by Stefanotis and captured in photographs by Sotiris Tsakanikas, came true.

Wedding idea

The couple's plan for their wedding combined old-era Hollywood glamor with modernity. "We created a wedding day with an elegant aesthetic that blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape," explains the bride.

To introduce the theme, they created a whimsical wedding invitation card with gold lettering and an illustration of their royal ceremony venue. They also used their invitations to set a color palette of white, ivory and green with bright splashes of yellow and gold.

Wedding dress and bridal look

When Georgia first learned about Vasilisa Zulias' designs when choosing a wedding dress, she had a hard time choosing just one outfit. What's the solution? She wore two different outfits! For the pre-wedding party and garden walk, the bride wore a strapless sundress with a heart-shaped neckline and an overskirt from this designer. "I wanted to find a dress that combined the old-school femininity and Hollywood glamor of a past era with a modern incarnation that was a fashion statement," she says. "That was our intention, and it was realized in his designs." The bride completed her look with a silk cylinder, diamond earrings and a diamond bracelet.

The groom's look.

After Alex spent the morning sipping whiskey and smoking cigars with his witnesses, he changed into a tailored navy blue jacket with light-colored pants, striped shirt, silk tie and fancy fedora for his morning walk with Georgia. "Alex's style is modern and classic, so he wanted something elegant and casual," says the bride.

The wedding ceremony

When the couple drove to their wedding venue in a rented vintage convertible, Georgia's bouquet of white orchids and greenery swayed in the wind. "We chose a bouquet that emphasized my silhouette, combining femininity and luxury," the bride describes her bouquet. Georgia's look featured waving curls and glowing skin with a slight smoky eye. "The main thing I had in mind was that I wanted an elegant and timeless look," says Georgia. "I wanted something classic yet trendy." The bride also wore yellow Manolo Blahnik shoes to add bright color and a final sophisticated touch to match our color palette and incorporate her Spanish heritage into her bridal closet.

Wedding venue

Georgia and Alex decided to get married at Queen's Tower Manor, the residence of Queen Amalia and King Otto. "We were looking for something unique that would be the perfect stage for our fairytale wedding," they tell us. "And what could be better than the gardens of a royal villa?" The neo-Gothic architecture and manicured lawns emphasized their aesthetics and provided beautiful photogenic moments.

The moral of the comment: Georgia and Alexa were even more united by planning a wedding together in the midst of a global pandemic. They happily shared responsibility amongst themselves, delegated tasks and found agreement to create the wedding of their dreams.
