The museum is the main site of the Camina Niemeyer, a cultural and tourist complex developed by Oscar Niemeyer on the waterfront between the southern neighborhood and downtown Niteroi.

Oscar Niemeyer's Theater of the Peoples, opened on April 5, 2007. The building has an undulating ceramic façade and glass that allows the audience to see Guanabara Bay, accessible through a winding ramp.

Oscar Niemeyer, originally from Rio de Janeiro, has become a renowned architect with worldwide prestige. He was educated at the National School of Fine Arts and the UFRJ and created a collection of award-winning works that represent progress in the field. Born on 15/12/1907, he died on 5/12/2012 (10 days before his 105th birthday) in Rio de Janeiro.

Niemeyer was the creative mind behind projects spread throughout Brazil. He also signed projects abroad.

Oscar Niemeyer International House (Spain)

An important place of coexistence and culture in the city of Aviles, opened in 2011. In Niemeyer's words: "A square open to the world, a place for education, culture and peace".

Niemeyer visited Israel in 1964 and was one of the architects responsible for developing a university in the city of Haifa.

Brasilia

The most famous is Brasilia, with buildings that reflect the sinuous curves, facades with thin columns and mirrors of water that create the setting. The photo shows the Planalta Palace.

In addition to Brazil, Niemeyer designed numerous buildings throughout the country. In São Paulo, the Triângulo building draws attention with its shape and was surprising when it was built in the 1950s. It is located on Quintino Bocaiuva Street, near the Sé square.

In Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais), the beauty of the Church of San Francisco de Assisi along Lake Pampulha draws attention.

In this chapel, Niemeyer experimented with reinforced concrete, moving away from pilotis and creating a parabolic concrete arch that had previously only been used in hangars.

In Rio de Janeiro, the famous columns of the Gustavo Capanema Palace, which housed the Ministry of Education and Health, are a symbol of the time when Rio de Janeiro was the federal capital.

The Oscar Niemeyer Museum, known as the Eye due to its shape, is located in Curitiba (Paraná). It was opened in 2002 and focuses on visual arts, architecture, and design.

The Latin American Memorial is a cultural and political center that opened in 1989 in Barra Funda, São Paulo. It features works of art, books, documents, and audiovisual materials about Latin America. The monument "The Hand" depicts blood flowing across the continent, referencing colonization.

The Copan building, with its winding lines, is one of the symbols of modern Brazilian architecture. Located in São Paulo, it features the largest reinforced concrete structure in the country: 115 meters tall, 32 floors, and an area of 120,000 square meters. It was opened in 1966 and includes shops and residential spaces.

The Sambadrome in Rio has been the stage for samba school parades since 1984. Officially named Passarela Professor Darcy Ribeiro, it is located on Avenida Marques de Sapucaí in the city center and has become a symbol of the carnival in Rio de Janeiro. It is 700 meters long and can accommodate 72,500 people.

The Anhembi Sambadrome (São Paulo) - officially known as the Grande Otelo Cultural and Sports Complex - is the runway where the samba schools of São Paulo parade. It was opened in 1991, is 530 meters long, and can accommodate 30,000 people.

The Canoas House - the house where Niemeyer lived since the 1950s - was designed by him and opened in 1953 on Carvalho de Azevedo Street in San Conrado, in the south of Rio de Janeiro. It combined open architectural spaces with the natural environment of rocks, plants, and water.

This result was so special that the residence was recognized as a National Historic Landmark in 2007, when the architect turned 100 years old.
