B.Grimm opens a new plant.
Introductory
B.Grimm Power (Angthong) 3 Co, a subsidiary of B.Grimm Power Plc, said it has achieved commercial operation (COD) of the ASGAN 3 project, a combined cycle power plant. The power plant, which has a generating capacity of 140 MW, began supplying electricity to Thailand's state-owned power operator (Egat) on December 1.
Project details
The launch of the ASGAN 2 project in October, which also has a capacity of 140MW, brings the total capacity of both power plants to 280MW. President of B.Grimm Power, Harald Link, noted that the ASGAN 3 power plant is located within Industrial Zone S in the Chayyo district. The main fuel base of the plant is natural gas, and it is equipped with advanced technologies.
Contract terms and prospects
In a 90 MW power supply contract (PPA) with Egat for 25 years, the cost of natural gas will be passed on as revenue from the sale of electricity to Egat. The remaining capacity will be used to supply electricity and steam under a long-term contract.
Collaboration with BGPAT2
The integration of ASGAN 3 with the BGPAT2 power plant contributes to the confidence of industrial customers and the competitiveness of the industrial zone. B.Grimm Power has experience in the construction and development of power plants both domestically and internationally.
Development and Plans
This strategic focus aims to meet the energy needs of industrial consumers and contributes to strengthening the competitiveness of the country's industries. In 2021, B.Grimm Power increased its capacity with the launch of seven projects, totaling 632 MW. The company currently has an installed capacity of 3,970 MW from 62 operating power plants. Taking into account projects under construction, under development or with power supply contracts, total production capacity is expected to be 4,268 MW.
Company goals
B.Grimm Power aims to develop power plant projects with a cumulative capacity of 10,000 MW. The company also aims to increase the share of renewable energy in its portfolio to more than 50% of total installed capacity by 2030. The distant goal is to achieve zero carbon emissions, and by 2050, the company plans to transition to completely carbon-free energy production.
