Cohousing in Spain: a new alternative to traditional housing with prices starting at125,000 euros
Currently, more and more people are facing difficulties in finding affordable rental options or purchasing their own homes without significant expenses. As a result, an increasing number of people are turning to alternative forms of housing, such as "cohousing," and this trend is becoming increasingly popular.
What is "cohousing"? "Cohousing" is an alternative where a group of people with shared values and very similar lifestyles decides to purchase a common home that meets their needs, explains the Fotocasa portal. The purchase of housing is done through a cooperative. For this, the group forms a cooperative to buy the property. Thus, the ownership belongs to the cooperative, and members pay a fee established in the charter for the right to use and enjoy the property. Typically, these are separate living spaces with shared amenities, such as a laundry room. Cooperative members are responsible for developing the model of coexistence and common areas.
One example is the project being carried out by Kora Pamplona. This is a "cohousing" located in the Leskair area of Pamplona, consisting of 167 fully equipped apartments with access to extensive common areas, as stated in the listing on the Idealista real estate portal. The building features a rooftop with stunning views, a swimming pool, a gym, a coworking space, a library, and a garden. The size of the apartments can range from 28 to 62 square meters. Each one is equipped with a kitchen and a bathroom, and some also have a terrace. These apartments, priced at 125,000 euros, are offered as investment assets with full management, allowing buyers to achieve a net return of 5.5%.
Another listing on the real estate portal is a "cohousing" apartment in the La Roceta area of Valencia. The price is €306,000, and an additional garage can be purchased for €35,000.

The apartment is located on the third floor of a building with an elevator. It features a double bedroom with built-in wardrobes, a full bathroom, a living-dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, a storage room, and a parking space.
