A stone house for $4.3 million in Spain: a luxurious cave
Life in the Stone Age may not seem very glamorous, but a cave house in Mallorca is ready to show you all the modern possibilities of living in a cave. Located in the town of Felanitx in the Balearic Islands of Spain, the home, which looks like it’s straight out of "The Flintstones" (if the Flintstones were royalty), has just been put up for sale for €3.97 million ($4.3 million). The property itself dates back to the 14th century when it was originally carved into the mountain. However, it has since undergone an ultra-modern renovation. The living area showcases the cave walls.
Underground dwelling
The underground dwelling, covering more than 9,000 square feet, includes five bedrooms - two of which are in the main house, while the others are spread across three garden casitas. The latter were named after the ships of the explorer: Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. The current owners purchased this place back in 2006 and made several luxurious improvements with the help of a local builder.
Life in the fresh air
Inside the rooms is outdoor living and here you'll find a game room and an epic outdoor dining area right outside the cave entrance. You'll also find two swimming pools, as well as a hot tub set inside an old stone shaft, creating the feeling of your very own secret grotto. Of course, Felanitx is known for its wine, so naturally there's a working vineyard, as well as opportunities to produce your own varieties of wine. That's right! Life in a cave doesn't have to be prehistoric.
