Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced the construction of a Presidential Complex in Northern Cyprus
In a speech to the Northern Cypriot Parliament, Erdogan announced the construction of a new Presidential Complex in Northern Cyprus.
ANONS FROM PRESIDENT ERDOGAN!
President Erdoğan used the following expressions in his speech: "I announced the upcoming important announcement a few days ago. Northern Cyprus does not have an adequate presidential or parliamentary home. We cannot afford such an inadequate facility in North Cyprus. The existing English hotel here, which now serves as the home of the President of NorthernCyprus, is temporary accommodation. We have decided to build a dignified Presidential Complex in North Cyprus. We have completed all the design work. We will begin construction immediately. We negotiated with the Armed Forces and allocated 500 acres of land in the Metehan area for this project. Modern complexes will be built there. We will send a strong message to the world about the presence of the Turkish people in Cyprus with these buildings. We won't stop there and will also build a great folk garden in the neighborhood. We will once again show the presence of the Turkish Cypriot state to the world through these incredible buildings. Our architect completed his work and I personally supervised all phases of the project. We will begin construction immediately.
WHERE IS METEHAN DISTRICT?
There has been a lot of interest in the location of the Metehan region where the Presidential Complex, Parliament and People's Garden are planned to be built in North Cyprus. The Metechan region is reportedly located in the capital of NorthernCyprus, Lefkosha. The area is known to have a border that provides access to South Cyprus. The Presidential Complex and other structures are expected to be built on the 500-acre plot of land, which is under the control of the Cypriot Armed Forces and is not yet in use. The construction will make the region the main center of the state of NorthernCyprus.
Who will build the Northern Cyprus Presidential Complex?
The question has arisen as to who will undertake the construction of the North Cyprus Presidential Complex. It is not expected that NorthernCyprus will build this facility with its own funds. In this matter, Turkey will assist and take the lead in the entire process. It is believed that the architectural design for the NorthernCyprus Presidential Complex is by the same architect who designed the Presidential Complex in the capital Ankara and other similar structures in different regions of Turkey. As construction progresses, presumably a tender will be issued and the construction company will be awarded the construction contract. It is already reported that well-known Turkish construction companies have already started preparations to participate in this tender, expecting to win it.
