Irishman accused of murder over love triangle in Spain dies before trial.

The Kilkenny man wanted in the murder of another Irishman at a Costa Blanca villa in Spain has died. Spain has just issued a new international arrest warrant against Simon Fahy after he was found in contempt of court following a failed extradition attempt from Ireland on charges of murder as part of a 'love triangle'.

The 30-year-old, along with suspect Wayne Walsh, was due to go on trial after a long investigation that began after Carl Carr's body was discovered in January 2019 in a shallow grave near a highway. A 38-year-old Dublin man has been reported missing by his British hairdresser girlfriend.

It was revealed today that Faigh, from Lowboy, County Kilkenny, died last Friday. A death announcement with his picture was published on RIP.ie and said his "deeply grieving" mother, father and other relatives and friends would "regretfully remember" him. It also said that the funeral would be a family funeral. The circumstances of his death have not been released, although it is known that it is not being treated as a crime.

The date for the start of the trial, in which Spanish authorities intended to add Fahy, has not yet been set. However, sources say indictments have been filed against the remaining suspects and a trial is likely to take place "sometime next year." All five suspects detained in connection with the Carr murder investigation are free on bail, including Walsh, 35, who was Carr's neighbor at an apartment complex in the Costa Blanca town of Torrevieja. The three female suspects include a model and a bar manager with whom Walsh was involved. They face lesser charges, including silencing.

A court source said: 'The court investigator decided the trial could take place last month after a lengthy criminal investigation. Indictments were filed against the accused and the case was referred to the provincial high court." Another source added: "Faigh was investigated during the course of this inquiry and it was decided by the Irish-based court to approach the Irish authorities to look for him following the decision to refer the case to the courts and notify him of the decision and his legal obligations. "The Irish authorities responded that they could not find him at an address that was available to them and a Spanish court issued an international arrest warrant for him. "The warrant is valid and will remain so until the court here receives evidence of his death.

Mr. Carr's body was found in January 2019 buried near the AP-7 highway between the towns of Benijofar and Algorfa on the Costa Blanca. According to Spanish police, he was killed in a handcuffed fight and his body was then taken to the woods 20 minutes north of his home and buried next to the bleach used to clean the scene.

Investigators speculated that Walsh flared up after learning that his former partner Mili Leonard, who is also facing legal action, had started dating his roommate. Locals said at the time that Walsh had started dating Mili again after the breakup, but was also sleeping with bar manager Natalie Edwards.

After Carr's body was discovered, his mother Marie said: "I believe he was killed because of a love triangle, following a hit-and-run from a man who knew him and accused him of dating his girlfriends. "Twice in our last conversation he told me he loved me. Those were his last words, "I love you, Mom." "Stating that he regularly spoke to his two young children in Ireland, she added: "I knew it was not a voluntary disappearance. He talked to the kids every day, and he talked to me every other day. "Whoever did this to my son should face the consequences. "

In March, it was reported that Walsh was arrested again in Spain under charges of running a drug trafficking organization. He was released on bail under conditions in August 2020 while the Carr investigation continued. He was subsequently detained by the Spanish Guardia Civil under suspicion of leading a group based in the Costa Blanca resort town of Torrevieja that used postal and courier companies to send drugs to Ireland, the UK and the US. A judicial investigation into drug trafficking charges is still ongoing, but sources say Walsh was also released on bail in that case.
