What is cohousing?

“Cohousing is an alternative where a group of people with shared values and very similar lifestyles decides to purchase a common home that meets their needs,” explains the Fotocasa portal. The purchase of housing is carried out through a cooperative. For this, a group of people forms a cooperative to buy the property. Thus, the ownership belongs to the cooperative, as do the rights to use and enjoy the property, although cooperative members pay a fee established in the charter. Typically, these are individual living spaces equipped with shared services, such as a laundry. Cooperative members are responsible for developing the model of communal living and shared spaces.

Examples of cohousing

An example is the project being carried out by Kora Pamplona. This co-housing initiative is located in the Leskairu area of Pamplona and consists of 167 fully equipped apartments with access to extensive common areas, as stated in the listing published on the real estate portal Idealista. The building features stunning views from the roof, a swimming pool, a gym, a workspace, a library, and a garden. The size of the apartments can range from 28 square meters to 62 square meters. Each one is equipped with a kitchen and a bathroom, although some also have a terrace.

Additionally, the kitchen and bathroom floors are covered with glossy ceramic tiles. The residential complex also offers services such as a concierge, café-restaurant, communal lounge, and gardens.
