Who is the poorest monarch in Europe?

The title of "richest monarch" belongs to King Philip VI of Spain.

Last year, he submitted a full report on his wealth in order to be transparent to the public. From that report, we learned that his net worth is 2.57 million euros (about $2.8 million dollars), which is pretty low for a reigning monarch. In fact, it's not even low enough to make the list of the 100 richest people in Spain. Most of his fortune consists of bank deposits and investment funds, as well as jewelry, antiques and works of art, as the Spanish monarch has no land or real estate in his name.

It is clear that his bank accounts, amounting to 2.26 million euros,''make up almost 90% of his fortune, with the remaining €300,000 coming from collectibles and jewelry. Unfortunately, Philip VI has no pension plan.

Compared to the late Queen Elizabeth II

her fortune in 2022 was about 444 million euros (almost $490 million).
