Bought a £3K house on EBAY, windowless and jungle, could be the next Cos...
In the dusty corner of the room, covered in dirt and dust, Rob Davis stands looking at the holes in the floor and roof. The house, which he bought on eBay for £3,000, is in Bulgaria, more than 2,000 miles from his home in Scotland. Rob hopes the homes he has purchased will be a legacy for his children. The first house, which he bought on eBay, comes with a plot of land of about an acre.
"I didn't realize how hard it would be," he says on Channel 4's "Help! We Bought A Village" program.
Rob was trying to clean a dirt floor in the house when he hit the ceiling and the insulation fell down.
Because of soaring property prices in the UK, Rob was unable to invest in the country's property market, but a three-storey house in Golyamo Kruszewo cost less than the usual premium.
He even bought a few more properties in the same area in the hope that their price would rise, as in resort areas such as the Costa del Sol.
In an exclusive interview for The Sun, he said: "Life is always a risk and I am prepared to take it. I probably won't see profits from these properties in my lifetime, but I'm doing it for my kids. I hope Bulgaria becomes like Spain. Real estate used to be cheap there until everyone started going there, and now it's very hard to find something for under six figures.".
