Miguel Fluxa began his career at Viajes Iberia, which was acquired by his father Lorenzo Fluxa in 1956. He turned the company into one of Spain's leading issuers. He distinguished himself by creating Iberojet in 1973 and Sunworld in 1991, the first Spanish tour operator in England.
"Yes, it was the first school of economics in Spain. A man starts to learn under the influence of his father, but he starts to really learn what it means to run a business when the bull comes at him. Those of us who know that far back Spain realize how much we have improved a lot in that respect. We were a very poor country in terms of education," Fluxa says in an interview with Forbes.

With his daughters Sabina and Gloria, Miguel Fluxa has positioned the group as a leader in responsible tourism. They focus on taking care of people and the environment. They have a long-term goal based on circularity and''s ambitious 2030 Agenda, which includes targets such as becoming waste-free by 2025 and carbon neutral by 2030.
The reputation of the Iberostar brand has allowed the Fluxa family to establish solid commercial strategies, such as a strategic partnership with IHG, one of the world's leading hotel chains. This partnership promotes the responsible tourism model and maintains ownership and management.
