Start of campaign - buying citrus from Valencia, volumes coming in from southern regions
The German company Grundhöfer GmbH, which has owned the Götterfrucht brand since the end of 2022, has so far been known for its oranges.
Starting this year, the brand also sells clementines and other fruit: "We are expanding the range with clementines, persimmons, table grapes and lemons. Sales of clementines are going very well. For more than 20 years, owner Peter Grundhöfer has been looking after the brand in the Rhine-Main region," says director Joachim Dimmer.
While the brand was mainly sold in the Rhine-Main region, it will now be distributed throughout southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland. 'Götterfrucht represents the quality standard we have been able to guarantee throughout the Italian grape season,' states Dimmer.'We will be purchasing citrus from the Valencian Community at the start of the campaign, although we will also receive volumes from more southern regions. Götterfrucht brand lemons are currently sourced from theMurcia region. "
The share of organic products at Grundhöfer GmbH is between 10 and 20 percent. "In Germany, Spain and Italy, we receive ecological products under contract. We are supplied with products from cooperatives to ensure a continuous supply," says Dimmer.
Significant cost and price increases are expected starting Dec. 1.

The director notes that customers are now buying much more consciously. "In general, large volumes are no longer being bought. Above all, younger consumers are paying more attention to quality. Topics such as sustainability, packaging and transparency are playing an increasingly important role, which means merchants will have to change the way they work. "
