Incomplete list of properties registered by the Church: Granada Laica Association without data for half a century and one hundred municipalities.

The Granada Laica Association, which advocates for the principles of secularism, has published a report stating that the list of properties registered by the Church in the province provided by the government is "incomplete". They claim that the list does not include properties registered between 1946 and 1998, "there are no data to determine the location of the properties listed or the date of registration" and there are "many property registry entries missing".

The association's report indicates that in the case of Granada, the official list lacks information on 107 localities, while only 67 localities are listed. Granada Laica states that they checked the data and found that "property registrations do exist." According to the association, the Ministry of Justice published a list of registered properties in 2021, which means that they are registered in the property registry for the first time.

Granada Laica says in a statement that after reading this list of properties, it "analyzes the list published by the government" and after this research concludes that the list is "incomplete." According to Granada Laica, "most of the registrations were made on the basis of a simple certificate from the Church, in which the bishop usually indicated that a certain property had belonged to them since indefinite times. "

The organization criticizes that the Church was not required to provide documentary evidence to prove the right to register property, both that which is on the list and that which is not included. According to the association, the list includes churches and places of worship "because the government collected registration information only after the Aznar reform," referring to the modification of the Mortgage Law of 1946 during the presidency of José María Aznar.

According to Granada Laica, this law allowed the Church to "register in its name all properties that were not registered in the property registry," with the exception of temples, an exception that was eliminated in 1998, according to Granada Laica.

The organization notes that the list does not include the Granada Cathedral, registered since 2015; the Royal Chapel, also registered in 2015, like the Sagrado Church; Santa Ana, which is not listed and has been registered since 1991; or the Church of Saints Justo and Pastor. In January 2022, the Church recognized a list of properties in Spain that are listed as registered but do not belong to them or contain registration errors that should be returned or revised. The agreement was announced during a meeting between Government President Pedro Sanchez and the president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, Cardinal Juan Jose Omella.

Granada Hoy then consulted on the report on registered properties in the province, submitted under Section 206 of the Mortgage Act 1998-2015, which includes data on the Diocese of Granada and the process of registering properties in the province. Thus, it is indicated that the diocese has a total of 119 properties registered, of which 69 fall under the mortgage law, but 50 properties have errors after their verification, as do the rest of the almost 35,000 properties registered by the Church in Spain, and therefore should not be included in the list of registered properties.

According to Granada Laica, the province has 108 churches, 36 chapels, two garages, 45 houses, twelve residential properties, six commercial properties, a cathedral, two land parcels, two schools, 50 plots and two seminaries registered.
