A 15-acre Dallas estate built for an Italian count is up for sale for $60 million, the most expensive home in Texas.

The most expensive residential real estate in Texas, the $60 million Crespi Estate, has emerged. It's a more than 27,000-square-foot mansion built by an Italian count who became a cotton magnate.

In 2015, its previous owner, billionaire and investor Tim Hicks, put the home on the market for $135 million, according to Mansion Global. The property has changed owners several times and is currently owned by the Cox family, known in Texas as oil and gas investors. Nothing is known about the amount of the latest sale, as Texas is a non-divestiture state.

The French chateau-style mansion, built in 1938, has an Indiana limestone facade and wrought iron gates. The estate is over 15 acres, making it one of the largest in Dallas. Despite this, it doesn't look like the center of the city.

Real estate agent Michelin Galbraith says, "This is where you forget you're in Dallas. You are cut off from everything around you, but everything remains in close proximity. "

The estate was named for the first owner, Count Pio Crespi, an Italian entrepreneur who established a trading company in Dallas for his family's cotton business inMilan. "The design and architecture of Crespi Manor is unique. Its restoration took more than three years and required the participation of about 250 craftsmen working every day. What you see today is just spectacular," says Michelin Galbraith.
