Oh, my God, I want to rent this house: Tuscany, Italy.

Oh, my God, I want to rent this house: Tuscany, Italy.

Podere La Specola, Tuscany, Italy (Vrbo): The roaring 1920s are with us again, baby! Or at least that's what we all hope. Summer 2021 is the time to trade in your flapper-girl feathers and champagne coupe for a feathered mask and vaccination passports... And, of course, the champagne coupe (because not everything has to change in 100 years). And then (safely) book a trip to somewhere amazing. For those whose tastes lean towards Da Vinci, this Tuscan retreat will just have you pulling out the oil paints and trying to recreate the Mona Lisa.

Let's talk about the most important feature first: territory. After a year of being locked away, it's time to open the doors and declare your life as an outdoor living experience forever. This expansive property features a large pool, hot tub, plenty of seating, and views that will make you press the camera shutter non-stop.

Podere La Specola has all the charms of vintage Italian romance. But don't let the old stone and antique vibe fool you. This is a vintage villa that is suitable for a large family or, in this case, you and 17 of your closest grafted friends.

If you get tired of the beauty around you (hard to imagine, but still), you can take a walk nearby and enjoy the beauty of the Tuscan countryside: olive groves, rolling green hills and pastoral forest.

Can't imagine leaving here? No problem. While the hosts (don't worry, they live in their own separate space on the grounds) might argue against you staying here forever, there is a minimum stay of 5 to 14 nights, so you have a great excuse to plan a long vacation. Sorry Warden, it's a must.

La Specola

"La Specola" means "the observatory" in Italian, in memory of one of the former residents of this house. Among many titles, Marsilio Ficino, made famous by the Renaissance, was an astrologer and teacher to the Medici.

And after a night spent gazing at the stars, don't forget the recommended bedtime story, "Goodnight Barbara."

This estate consists of a main house and two annexes. Each has its own living rooms and bedrooms, but the main house is for communal use for dining, drinking and discussing the most important events of the year.

The second most important feature of this (and any) vacation home: the ability to bring in a chef. Homemade pizza and authentic bolognese - sounds artful, right?

Why go to the best restaurants in Florence, Rome or the nearby village of Figline Valdarno when you have the opportunity to try it all in your own temporary home?

In America, a home filled and furnished with antique chic might be considered something mediocre. InTuscany, it's an expression of authenticity, because these items have been around for hundreds of years. Those copper pots? Here they're brand new, freshly purchased.

Some old houses skimp on bathrooms since internal plumbing systems weren't widely adopted for a long time. But not here, where your group of 18 can enjoy 10.5 bathrooms.

Like all quality estates, the old house can accommodate generations of family members in its nine bedrooms. Or, if you're one of those unfortunate souls who spent family life during the long and difficult quarantine, it can host up to 18 of your best friends.

It seems that there will never be a desire for something more in this little corner of paradise. Many people today are already fleeing from the excess hustle and bustle and prefer solitude. But if you still want to stretch your legs in the expanses of Podere La Specola, Florence is just around the corner, as well as the famous shopping center The Mall.

Bedding can be modern, but wall art will give you a touch of Renaissance flavor.

To fully experience the revival of the Roaring Twenties, we need to think not just about one vacation, but about vacations in multiple places, about parties and massages. But planning trips and spa visits can be so stressful. So, it might be worth booking a trip toTuscany, working on a calendar, and relaxing by the olive grove. Let's drink to that!
