Alejandro Sanz insolvency charge of €3 million

Madrid Court of First Instance No. 47 declared Alejandro Sanz on the run after an unsuccessful attempt to formally familiarize him with the sentence handed down by a court in Miami (USA) for non-payment of a debt of three million euros.

The debt arose from the purchase of two properties worth 6.4 million euros in the American city, for which the artiste obtained several loans from Total Bank Florida through various companies. Having refused to repay those loans, the mortgage enforcement process began in November 2019, with the bank demanding the transfer of the property.

The execution is now in the hands of Spanish justice, with the court indicating that "it is a protracted process" to deliver the judgment to Alejandro Sanz. Alkazul S.L., one of the companies linked to the singer, is said to have failed to respond, leading to the declaration of a riot, as it could be seen as a ploy to delay the legal process.

In this context, it is not ruled out that the artiste's property will eventually be seized to settle the debt.

One of the properties is a 90-year-old colonial-style home that consists of six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a recording studio, a heated pool and a private dock.

The original debt was 12 million dollars, which is 11.3 million euros, as determined by the U.S. Justice Department in 2020. To repay it, an auction of several properties of Alejandro Sanz was set up, but the participation of an investment fund facilitated their sale, although it happened at a price lower than the amount owed, so the Madrid artist still has to compensate the remaining three million euros.

The singer has not commented on the situation and continues his American tour. After completing eleven shows in the US, he asked his fans to be "good people" and enjoy life, and he has four more shows scheduled in Mexico and two more in Spain.
