The Provincial Cash Savings Bank of Valladolid was founded on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 00:11 hours, under the patronage and responsibility of the Deputation, in order to develop agriculture and other wealth of the province and to create and increase its charitable and social projects. His start-up capital was 50,000 pesetas and his office was in the Pimentel Palace building. As early as 1927, there was a proposal for a Provincial Cash Savings Bank, but it was not realized. After the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939, the necessary measures were taken to finally develop the bank. Registered in the special register of the Ministry of Labor, the Provincial Cash Savings Bank of Valladolid was one of the first in Spain.

In 1955, the bank left the Pimentel Palace and moved to a new building of its own construction, where its central offices were opened. It was inaugurated on May 6, with Emiliano Berzosa Reynaud as president of the Deputation and the Savings Bank Treasury. Among those invited to the opening was the oldest depositor of the bank, an 82-year-old woman, holder of the first book in one of the branches, as mentioned in issue 2 of the magazine 'Ahorro' of the Confederation of Spanish Charitable Savings Banks, archived in the Foundations (Fundación Public Charitable Foundation of Castilla y León). Located at 12 Plaza de España, the building has a special feature in the form of a clock mounted on the tower that completes the main facade: it is the first electronic clock installed in Spain "capable of playing music at a distance of three kilometers". Underneath you can see the coat of arms of the defunct bank. "At twelve o'clock in the afternoon, the angel of the Lord would sound, and people would stop and pray," one resident recalled in a 2014 interview with El Norte newspaper, when the clock was repaired after years of inactivity. The Angel of the Lord had long ago ceased sounding in the morning "because of the inconvenience it was causing to the inhabitants." Jesús Mediavilla, next to the first electronic clock installed in Spain. Ricardo Otazo. Jesús Mediavilla, an industrial foreman and president of the housing community of this historic building in Valladolid, spent nine years repairing the clock on top of the building. They had been out of business for many years and after remodeling the building, facade and interior "something was missing. We repaired, painted and updated it for everyone's enjoyment. It's part of the city's history," Mediavilla said. In addition, the clock is illuminated with LED lights from 22:30 hours onwards. The building has long since ceased to belong to the former Provincial Cash Savings Bank of Valladolid.
