Secrets of weight: unknown drink with a high amount of antioxidants that will help you lose weight weight

Drinking a cup of tea can instantly make us feel much healthier. These infusions are famous as ancient drinks containing special properties: some stimulate, others relax, and almost all prevent diseases. However, their benefits are not really that great, but including tea in our diet is a good idea.

First, because it's a way to add more antioxidants and also helps us hydrate and replace less healthy options like soda. Whether you're a beginner or an expert tea drinker, you've probably tried green tea before. It is the most popular infusion and can be easily found in almost all supermarkets, as well as ordering a cup at any bar or restaurant.

If it's so famous, it's certainly because of one of its antioxidants: “Epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG in its English acronym. This substance is 20 times more antioxidant than vitamin E and 100 times more than vitamin C”, explains the EL ESPAÑOL article. However, green tea is not the only one that is rich in antioxidants, and we can alternate its consumption with others equally beneficial.

Specifically, white tea comes from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, but its special processing gives it a different flavor from green tea and also excellent properties. The main difference is that the leaves and buds of this plant are harvested to make this tea when they are not yet fully opened and retain a whitish coating, hence the name white tea.

However, in addition, white tea undergoes less processing and is therefore said to retain more antioxidants. In any case, white tea is still little known in Spain and in many western countries, and so there is little research on its health effects. It is very easy to prepare, you just need to brew the tea with hot water, but not boiling - between 75ºC and 85ºC so as not to spoil its flavor. It can be found both in bags and leaves, the most exquisite is called silver needles.

Tea stores usually promote it as a beauty product, and this is due to its high polyphenol content, “Many studies have shown that the polyphenols found in white tea can inhibit various cellular components that can damage the network of fibers that helps skin to be firm,” explains this post on American Healthline.

Specifically, polyphenols are plant-specific molecules that protect the body's cells from damage caused by free radicals. An excess of these radicals in the body is associated with aging, chronic inflammation, weakened immunity, and certain diseases.

EGCG, which is found in green tea, is also a type of polyphenol. Since both teas come from the same plant, white tea also contains this valuable antioxidant.

These polyphenols are also the reason why white tea is associated with possible benefits against cardiovascular disease and even Alzheimer's disease. Healthline explains that cardiovascular disease is closely linked to chronic inflammation, so these molecules with antioxidant properties could be very beneficial. Polyphenols have also been linked to lowering levels of the harmful cholesterol, LDL. In addition, EGCG may prevent the onset of Alzheimer's disease and even Parkinson's disease.

Healthline also links white tea consumption to some protection against colorectal cancer: “Studies have shown that white tea extract inhibits the growth of colorectal cancer cells and inhibits their spread. Antioxidants from white tea extract also protect healthy cells from damage by harmful molecules.”

The high level of polyphenols in this tea also reduces the risk of diabetes and may even prevent osteoporosis. The combination of fluorides, catechins and tannins also makes white tea ideal for strengthening teeth: these substances reduce the risk of tooth decay and can inhibit plaque growth.

Finally, white tea can also help with weight loss. This is because only green tea has been studied for this effect, and although little research has been done with white tea, both teas come from the same plant and have similar properties. Tea is therefore a good ally for health, but we must consider some aspects.

The first is that if our overall diet is not healthy, tea can't do much for us. Of course, if we smoke, lead a sedentary lifestyle or sleep little, giving up these bad habits will always have more health benefits. Either way, having a cup of tea can only add benefits to our diet.
