The country's capital experienced an influx of people from the southern provinces hit by the devastating earthquakes in early February, which probably played a role in the 123 percent year-on-year increase in real estate prices.

In the Mediterranean province of Antalya, where foreigners are active in the local real estate market, the average house price has risen 103 percent since June 2022 to 3.42 million liras.

Last month, 4,503 dwellings were sold in Antalya, with 22 percent of them sold to foreign nationals.

Home sales across Turkey fell 44.4 percent in June from a year earlier to 83,636. New home sales fell by 42 percent and sales with mortgages fell by more than 45 percent.

In the first six months of the year, the number of homes sold was down 22.1 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
