Vice Mafioso Insaurralde disputes the charges of unjust enrichment and states: I don't own 61 properties.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Buenos Aires government and former mayor of Partido de la Costa, Juan Pablo de Jesús, has reacted to allegations of illicit enrichment that came to light after a scandal involving his political mentor, Martin Insaurralde, over a lavish trip with model Sofia Clerici. He said in an interview that half of his 61 properties are inheritances from his father and his income is partly due to being "a farmer with 156 cows producing calves."

The interview was filmed in the building of the local Justicialist Party. The moment of the recording falls just a few days before last Sunday. In his monologue, de Jesús was clearly nervous to defend himself against criminal charges due to the scale of his assets, which were called by the federal prosecutor from Lomas de Samora, Sergio Mola, following the accusation filed by Together for Change deputy Evangelina de los Milagros Cordona, in which he is attributed to own 61 properties, two companies and several civil societies allegedly owned by the former mayor. The case against him seeks to clarify the issue of de Jesús' illicit enrichment and whether he is an alleged figure in the Insaurralde cases. Both the prosecutor and a temporary federal judge from Lomas de Samora, Ernesto Kreplak, are investigating the former Cabinet chief and model Sofia Clerici for their trip to Marbella.

Clearly shaken by the allegations, de Jesús presented notarized documents and other evidence at the interview. He defended himself by saying that "37 properties" of the 61 properties presented "correspond to a sales contract made in 1976" by his father and a group of neighbors, even before he became an official. And he claimed the whole thing was an "orchestrated operation" against him.

"I was used to hurt my father. That's what they wanted to do because he is blameless and so am I. I am proud to be the son of Juan de Jesus," said the Bonairen MP, who has been on vacation since taking office as deputy prime minister when he joined Axel Quisillof's government with Martin Insaurralde. And he regretted that all this arises "a few days before the elections and with a secret case, without being able to know why you are accused of having 61 properties," he stressed.

In an attempt to justify his wealth, de Jesus said that all his income is declared to the Federal Tax Service (AFIP). "The whole thing is a lie. The only true facts are what is stated in my personal assets and income declaration," he said. And he explained that he has other sources of income besides his salary as an official, which includes his activities as a farmer since 2014, including raising cattle and a property in Buenos Aires financed by a 10-year loan.

"This is a document from the vet stating that I have 156 cows as of October 20.

We are now in the calving (sic) period. Already 27 calves have been born, 20 females and seven males. Will continue to be born, if we are lucky, there will be 150 calves," the official accurately pointed out. "The charge says I have 200 hectares of land. This lodge may say 2,000 or 20,000. I have two plots of 10 hectares each which are for additional activities," he said.

He said de Jesús began this agricultural activity after reading a book by former Spanish President José María Aznar, which advised having a private income in addition to government activities. "He says that whoever is involved in political activity must have another activity, because he must know what it is to pay a supplier, to go to a veterinarian, to pay a salary, to have employees. He should know," he commented.

De Jesus also explained that the other companies mentioned belong to a project with his family. "It is an entertainment company that we have been running together since 2018, and we also had a restaurant that my son is now running," he said. He also mentioned the Nazarene Civil Society in memory of his deceased sister, also mentioned as a vehicle for money laundering. "My father and his wife Marina turned their pain into something positive - creating a home for vulnerable children. Hundreds of children come there to do their homework, get an afternoon snack, have lunch, receive medical care and have places for entertainment and recreation. It's an association I'm proud of," he reasoned.
