Hilltop villa in Italy with a strong foundation
The owners of a house inTuscany, Marco Pasanella and his wife, decided to make it their own while keeping the spirit of the past.
The house sits on a hill overlooking the town of Camaiore, near Lucca.
As a child, Marco often spent summer vacations inTuscany, where his father, Giovanni Pasanella, an architect and former professor of architecture and urban planning at Yale and Columbia Universities, moved in the 1970s.
After his father's death, Marco inherited a villa called Villa Cannizzaro and decided to make it his own, preserving memories of the past.
The process of restoring and refurbishing the villa took some time, as Marco wanted to avoid creating a museum-like setting.
The villa is the centerpiece of a 62-acre plot that presents a classic Tuscan landscape: manicured lawns, gardens with olive trees and fruit trees, and a slope where the Pasanellas found shelter from the sun in the shade of a pine grove.
The villa also has a bamboo grove, which they use to create a bamboo tea house for their son Luca.
The villa has two floors of spacious rooms with views of the gardens and surrounding hills.
Many of the original pieces of furniture have been retained and they have only added their own detailing.
The villa is still in the process of being remodeled
