1978 Puch Newport with air-cooled and no back-up foundation
This 1978 Puch Newport L moped is painted black and is powered by a 49cc two-stroke single-cylinder engine that is paired with a single-speed transmission and automatic centrifugal clutch. Features include crank and launch pedals, front and rear lights, spring-loaded seat, chrome exhaust system, 17-inch diameter spoke wheels, drum brakes, chrome rear rack and center footrest. The seller purchased this moped in June 2023, presumably from the first owner's inheritance. It is reported that the carburetor, fuel hose and flow tap were replaced after purchase. This Newport L is now being offered with no reserve in the state of Georgia with a trade-in sale.
The moped's frame and trim are finished in black with red and gold accents. The frame consists of welded steel forgings and holds up to 0.85 gallons of fuel inside the down tube. Additional features include a sprung seat, black front and rear fenders, fork lock, chrome holding handles, chain guard, headlight and taillight, side reflectors and chrome rear rack.
The chrome steering column features Magura knobs, a gas grip and switches for ignition, lights and turn signals. The 30-mph speedometer has a built-in single-digit odometer that shows 4,000 miles. The 49cc, two-stroke, 49cc Puch E50 engine is crank and pedal-started, and features eight cylinder fins and a chrome exhaust system with black heat shield. The factory output was two horsepower. Seller states that the carburetor, spigot and fuel hose were replaced prior to sale. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a single-speed transmission with automatic centrifugal clutch and drive chain.
The moped has no title or registration and is sold only under a contract of sale.
