Daria and Spain: agreement to renovate 614 homes in La Isleta and Hinamar
Mayor Carolina Darias has concluded an agreement with the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Policy, Raquel Sanchez, to allocate 4.3 million euros for the city. With these funds, which come from the Recovery, Transformation and Sustainability Plan, the municipality will rehabilitate 168 residential buildings in the Fermín Sanz Orrio group in La Isleta and another 446 in Phase III of the Hinamar Polygon. The works include improving the energy efficiency of the buildings with the installation of solar panels on the roofs or aerotherms. In turn, the municipality will contribute 2.7 million euros.
The Mayor of Las Palmas Gran Canaria, Carolina Darias, has signed an agreement with the Minister of Transportation, Mobility and Urban Policy, Raquel Sanchez,''Secretary General for Urban Policy, Housing and Architecture, Iñaki Carniceiro, and Councillor for Civil Works, Housing and Transportation of the Government of the Canary Islands, Pablo Rodríguez. The agreement, which fits into the Spanish Government's Transformation and Sustainability Plan, provides 4,376,433.64 euros for the city to implement the two activities. This agreement provides for a total investment in the city of 7,075,240 euros, with 60% contribution from the Government of Spain and 40% from the municipality, which will contribute 2,698,806 euros. The Mayor noted that "as we continue to confirm, housing is our priority. We continue the important work begun in the last convocation of the Municipality of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Municipality''Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the benchmark municipality of the Canary Islands and one of the national leaders in housing'. She also noted that "we are talking about rehabilitation. The public housing stock needs a significant renewal, such as that carried out in the last convocation in the Carmen de La Isleta group, in Vega San José or in Lomo Apolinario.
The energy efficiency improvement measures will install''aerotherms, improve exterior painting, roof insulation, and install solar panels on roofs. Thus, it is expected to achieve a reduction in non-renewable primary energy consumption of more than 60% in both neighborhoods. In addition to the energy improvements, the surrounding area will be improved, respecting accessibility standards and updating the infrastructure serving the residences. The Fermín Sanz Orrio group in La Isleta will receive a total of €1,874,880 from the Spanish government and the municipality. This includes the improvement of the streets of Jerez (portals 1,2,3,4,5,5 and 6); Sol (1,2,3,4,5,5,6,7,8,9 and 10) and Gijon (1,3,5,7,9). On the other hand, Phase III of the Hinamar Polygon will be allocated the sum of €5,200,359 for towers 9,10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16, as well as for Blocks I (Portal 1, 2 and 3);''2 (Portal 1, 2 and 3) and 3, (Portal 1 and 2). All these activities will be executed by the municipality and their implementation will follow the established procedures for tenders, contracts and execution.
