We are continuing this important work with the aim of rehabilitating two very important areas of the city, such as these two neighborhoods in which we are going to act." "In this way, we continue to prioritize housing in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria thanks to the close collaboration between the administrations. We want to thank for this joint work especially the Ministry of Housing,''transportation and urban policy with the New Generation Funds Administration." "The commitment of the municipal government," added Darias, "is to continue to rehabilitate housing units and build new public housing units, both owned and rented at affordable prices, creating 1,000 rental units during this convocation." Councillor Pablo Rodriguez highlighted the commitment of the Canary Islands Government on housing and noted that thanks to this agreement "about 600 housing units will be rehabilitated with European funds. This is the policy we are pursuing and the Ministry and the Government of the Canary Islands together with the municipalities of the islands to rehabilitate the housing stock of the archipelago, especially''public, and to improve people's lives and stimulate public works and related employment." "This agreement will allow us to promote the rehabilitation and regeneration of residential areas in the capital, and to modernize and improve public housing to meet the new energy efficiency requirements of the European Union. Under the same program, we will also carry out works on 899 housing units in the La Paterna area and through the Urban and Rural Regeneration and Renovation (ARRU) program of the Public Housing Program, we will carry out 20 activities in other towns in Gran Canaria," explained Rodriguez.

The energy efficiency improvement measures will install''aerotherms, improve exterior painting, roof insulation, and install solar panels on roofs. Thus, it is expected to achieve a reduction in non-renewable primary energy consumption of more than 60% in both neighborhoods. In addition to the energy improvements, the surrounding area will be improved, respecting accessibility standards and updating the infrastructure serving the residences. The Fermín Sanz Orrio group in La Isleta will receive a total of €1,874,880 from the Spanish government and the municipality. This includes the improvement of the streets of Jerez (portals 1,2,3,4,5,5 and 6); Sol (1,2,3,4,5,5,6,7,8,9 and 10) and Gijon (1,3,5,7,9).
