The sailing yacht Crystal River stays in Montenegro.
After the rescue of 55 migrants by Italian border guards in the Sea of Yona, the yacht Crystal River was left to sail alone and ended up on the coast of Montenegro, near Rafailovic, on November 11. According to Zarko Luksic, assistant director of the Maritime Safety and Port Management Authority (MSPA), the yacht is likely to become Montenegrin property once all legal actions have been completed.
She sailed about 450 kilometers and 40 days, sailing under the influence of waves, from the coast of Turkey to the Montenegrin coast. '\''The Maritime Safety and Port Management Authority received information from citizens that she landed on the beach near Rafailovic'\''\'','' says Luksic, the assistant director of the authority. "{\after}'we received this information from citizens, namely from the Duklej Marina in Budva, on November 11 our staff immediately went there, it was in the morning around 9 o'clock, and we found her on the beach near Rafailovic, near Kamenovo beach, and it had October 1 written on it, that's the designation of the Italian Border Guard. And that immediately showed us that it was a vessel that was carrying out salvage operations. So we immediately contacted MRCCRome, which is the Mediterranean Sea Search and Rescue Coordination Center, which is the main center, and we were later informed that this vessel was rescued by the Italian Coast Guard, as already said," he said in a program for seafarers.
Why was the Turkish yacht not pulled away from shore after two weeks?
Is it possible that the owner of the Crystal River yacht will demand the return of the yacht to Montenegro? '\'We need to establish contact with the owner, whether it will be through Interpol, through the Turkish embassy, it is of course the investigative bodies responsible for this part of the work, because if the state takes the vessel in this part, and then the owner appears, it goes without saying that he will have to cover all the costs associated with the withdrawal of the vessel and the costs accumulated up to this point,' said the interlocutor of Radio Montenegro. Maritime Safety Authority, port management, completion of all legal''Procedures are constantly monitoring the Crystal River yacht, Luksic concluded.
