Primark is doubling the number of stores in Italy by the end of 2022.

Primark is expanding its presence in Italy and plans to double the number of stores in the country by the end of 2022. The fashion retailer currently has six stores in Italy and intends to open eight more new stores in 21 months. The first of the new stores will open in Rome, in the Roma Est shopping center. The company also plans to open stores in Catania, Sicily, in the Centro Sicilia shopping center, and in Chieti, Abruzzo, in the Megalò shopping center, by the end of this year.

The remaining five stores will open next year in Grugliasco, Turin, at Shopville Le Gru shopping center; Casaleccio di Reno, Bologna, at Shopville Gran Reno shopping center; Marchianis, Caserta, at Campania shopping center; Marghera, Venice, at Nave De Vero shopping center; and Milan, at Via Torino. The Milan store will also become Primark's regional office in Italy.

Despite blockades and restrictions in all the countries where Primark operates due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the company still managed to open six new stores in France, Spain, the US and Italy in the 27-week period to the end of February. Primark also plans to open 15 new stores in the next six months in Spain, the US, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Poland and the Czech Republic. This expansion will add an additional 700,000 square feet of retail space in the current fiscal year Primark.
